type

Tells bind what type the data value is. An input's value is always a string; this is what converts it back on the way into your data and formats it on the way out.

Supported types

Only needed when the value is not a string. Without it, a checkbox writes "true" into your data rather than true and a number field writes "42".

Conversion uses $bindary.dateFormat for dates and $bindary.decimalSeparator for numbers, so a comma-separated locale needs one setting rather than a formatter per field. $bindary.decimalPrecision sets the number of decimals and a precision can be given per element as number(2).

Example

A checkbox bound to a real boolean. The value displayed beside it is the data itself, so you can see what was written rather than what the input holds.

Number, with precision

number(2) rounds to two decimals on the way into the data and formats the same way on display, using $bindary.decimalSeparator if it's set.

Date

A plain text input, parsed and formatted according to $bindary.dateFormat, not a native date picker. The underlying data holds a real Date, not a string.
